New and Improved (at Least I Think So!)

You will notice some changes around here....clearly, the header is different, the pages are a different color...even the font is different! (If you noticed that part, you're clearly a graphic design nerd). The biggest advantage of this new format is that it will allow me to post bigger pictures, like this:

DarbiTTD-40

Recognize that gorgeous woman? It's Darbi, my esteemed friend and fellow wedding photographer! I did a trash-the-dress session with her and her hubby Neil back in June, and it's still one of my favorite shoots of the year.

So why am I making these changes? Well, the layout change to allow for bigger pictures is something I should have done a long time ago. What spurred it on, however, is that I'm rolling out a new website soon, and I needed to update the blog colors to match the colors of the new site. The new site isn't live yet, but you can look at a preview here:

The New, Improved Photography by Lara Site

Do you see the biggest difference? Yep, I'm changing my name! I specifically chose "Photography by Lara" when I started this business because I knew my last name would soon be changing due to my upcoming marriage. However, now that I'm married and my new last name is here to stay, I'll start using it professionally. I bought a new domain - LaraHanlonPhotography.com - which will soon become my main site, although PhotographyByLara.com will still work as well. I'll slowly be switching everything from the old name to the new name, which is something I'm NOT looking forward to undertaking, but it has to be done. :) View full post!

Top Pictures from 2008

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from 2008. These are by no way ALL my favorites - there would be hundreds if so! It was so hard to choose pictures to include in the slideshow. I would choose different pictures if I put it together tomorrow, and different ones still the day after that. :)

Wedding : Tiffani and Scott

I just LOVE shooting the weddings of people who also had an engagement shoot. And particularly so in this case, because I had such a great time at Tiffani and Scott's engagement session. They were such a fun, loving couple at their shoot in Lincoln that I knew their wedding would be something special...and it was.

The salon Tiffani got ready at was awesome....it was so bright and airy, I actually got sun flare. At a salon! That NEVER happens!

Guys, do you have any idea what the women in your life go through to get their wedding day hair? Tiffani's little sister was fascinated by the process.

Once the ladies were all ready, we headed to a park near the church for the first glance and formal pics.

Then we headed back across the road for the ceremony and reception.

Getting bustled up before the first dance...

This was unusual for me because the reception started early in the evening, so it was still light out, and the light was streaming in through the windows. Some people might think that it was unromantic that it wasn't dark, but to me it felt so alive and happy and joyful!

As we were leaving - before it even got dark! - we saw the sign pointing the way to the reception bathed in the light from the sunset.

This is one couple who I KNOW has a very, very long and loving future in front of them. Congrats! View full post!
